Chapter 1: Understanding Zoom Meetings
Like many others, I have devoted a significant amount of time to Zoom meetings since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether it's catching up with friends or participating in professional and educational events, Zoom has become a dominant force in my daily interactions. Section 1.1: The Awkward Silence Dilemma
Just before writing this piece, I finished a two-hour class, during which one of my classmates faced an excruciatingly long pause after sharing her thoughts. Although instructors and peers strive to cultivate a supportive environment in these virtual meetings, the anxiety around speaking up is palpable. This is arguably one of the primary challenges with Zoom and similar platforms.
The inherent lag and hesitation during conversations often contribute to this awkwardness. Prioritizing seamless communication in video conferencing should take precedence over adding new features. Personally, I would readily invest in a lag-free version of Zoom!
