Understanding the Silent Threat of Narcissistic Abuse

Chapter 1: The Rise of Narcissistic Abuse
In recent years, the number of women seeking assistance for recovery from narcissistic abuse has significantly increased. I am honored to offer both one-time and ongoing support to clients who often just want their experiences acknowledged and validated.
One of the most pressing issues that frequently goes unnoticed for those in narcissistic relationships is the domestic violence associated with them. Narcissistic abuse encompasses not only physical violence but also emotional and psychological harm.
A recurring theme I encounter is that women often feel their counselors lack a true understanding of their struggles. Many find it incredibly difficult to reach out for support, not due to a lack of resources or knowledge about whom to contact, but because they struggle to find time in their hectic lives to make these calls.
For numerous women, the reality is that their partner either works from home or operates a business. Occasionally, the abuser may work outside the home but can unexpectedly be present on any given day. The abuser often demands that they be together at all times outside of work hours, leaving little room for personal space.
For instance, I worked with a client who felt confined to her home, unable to escape its confines.
With an abuser present around the clock, they face numerous challenges, such as:
- Making phone calls without being overheard.
- Pursuing personal interests while also caring for the abuser and maintaining the home.
- Inviting friends or family over for support.
- Leaving the home for any reason without the partner's approval.
- Reaching out for help.
- Finding moments of solitude.
Many of my clients inquire whether they can contact me throughout the day, hoping for an available moment to discuss their situations. I always strive to accommodate them whenever possible.
This issue transcends narcissistic abuse; it applies to all forms of abuse. The situation appears to be worsening with each passing day.
