Chapter 1: The Foundation of Passive Income

The road to generating passive income is not a sprint; it’s a marathon. It doesn’t have to be flawless—it simply needs to be initiated.

In 2009, I embarked on my journey to create passive income streams. At that time, I had established a vibrant French-speaking community centered around autism. The online landscape was bleak, filled with misleading psychoanalysis, and there was a lack of practical resources for mothers raising autistic children. Fortunately, my proficiency in English allowed me access to a wealth of information from the U.S., where I observed autistic individuals advocating for themselves.

Imagine this: Autistic adults, emerging from psychiatric institutions, expressing their needs and desires through writing—something unheard of in France at that time. Psychiatrists advised parents to relinquish their children to hospitals, perpetuating the stigma that mothers were to blame. As a result, my community flourished, now boasting over 25,000 members on Facebook.

To share valuable resources, I developed a few print-on-demand products. The platforms available were limited compared to today, but I made the most of my design skills. However, after initial sales, I faced a setback—my products and books became stagnant. I repeatedly restarted, erasing my past efforts far too often.

Fast forward to the beginning of 2020: I had a modest collection of around a dozen products. I continued to create but also removed items from circulation—an unwise pattern. Then, in June, I resolved to commit seriously to my passive income strategy. Instead of deleting products, I focused on expanding my offerings.

As I write this in April 2022, I can report that things are progressing well considering my time investment! I’ve stopped taking products down and have been steadily adding new ones. Most importantly, I've begun utilizing automation tools for passive income.

Every year brings greater returns from my passive income endeavors. My design portfolio expands, leading to more reviews, sales, and visibility. Others now reach out to me for custom designs.

You don't need to launch with an extensive collection. Starting small is perfectly acceptable. You can create simple text-based designs and utilize a free trial of Canva Pro for high-quality visuals. Aim to produce one design daily, or more if you prefer, and let automation handle the distribution.

Each month you delay is a missed opportunity for growth. Passive income requires time to build momentum—your products need to be indexed, purchased, reviewed, and promoted across various platforms.
