# Embracing the Airship: A Logo of Untapped Potential
Written on
Chapter 1: The Symbolism of the Airship
We selected the airship as our emblem because it represents unexploited potential in our view. Once regarded as the aerial equivalent of a luxury cruise liner, airship production was abruptly halted following a single tragedy.
Although some aspects of airship technology still require advancement for practicality, I am convinced that if airships had continued to be used, we would have uncovered, adopted, and enhanced this now-overlooked mode of transport over time.
This notion resonates with our mission at Think Tank. In today's corporate landscape, many businesses neglect to reflect on themselves, their ideas, innovations, or transformative changes that could significantly influence their operations. The airship embodies this concept; it stands out as a metaphorical elephant in the room—an idea that everyone is aware of but is hesitant to address. By doing so, it encourages us to lift our gaze from the ground and look upward—a perspective we rarely engage with.
Here is a thought-provoking quote from a book I encountered in sixth grade: "Have you noticed how nobody ever looks up? Nobody looks at chimneys, or trees against the sky, or the tops of buildings. Everybody just looks down at the pavement or their shoes. The whole world could pass them by and most people wouldn't notice." This excerpt is taken from "The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles," which I highly recommend.
Growth occurs when we challenge ourselves, pushing our limits, stumbling, and then rising again.
Next time you go for a walk or hike, try to keep your eyes on the horizon or the canopy of trees above rather than the ground. Elevate your feet a bit higher, taking measured steps to feel the earth beneath you more profoundly. Initially, this might slow you down, but the rewards of this minor adjustment will be remarkable.
Consider all the memorable hikes you've experienced, where your focus was solely on the asphalt, dirt, roots, and gravel. Occasionally, you would pause to look up and admire the stunning scenery surrounding you.
Now, envision a world where you could stroll freely without fixating on your feet, trusting that they will always support you. Think of all the sights you'd uncover.
This notion underscores why the airship is a fitting representation of our identity. In the past, we often looked down, unsure of our direction. Now, we are beginning to trust our steps more, embracing the possibility of failure as a part of the journey. Eventually, we will soar, and that floating experience will redefine our perspective once again.
As I pen this reflection, I realize that this is only one aspect of what makes the airship logo resonate with Think Tank's philosophy. I eagerly anticipate sharing more insights into this connection and hope you found value in this glimpse into our ethos.
In the video "Why The Airship Was A Design Disaster - Cheddar Explains," you can explore the reasons behind the airship's decline, shedding light on its historical significance and lessons for modern design.
Chapter 2: The Future of Airships
The second video, "Should Airships Make A Comeback?" discusses the potential resurgence of airships in contemporary transportation, highlighting their innovative aspects and environmental benefits.
