Chapter 1: A Glimpse into Our Background

I hail from a middle-class family residing in Rawalpindi, a city neighboring Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. My father dedicated his career to an agricultural bank, striving to provide us with a content life. Although our desires were sometimes unmet, he always did his utmost to ensure our well-being. We never owned a car, but my father's reputable position allowed us to use one provided by the bank.

As the youngest sibling, I was quite young and thought of that car as our own until my father's retirement took it away.

My eldest brother was pursuing a Bachelor's in Commerce and had a keen interest in entrepreneurship. While my father wished for him to complete his degree and seek traditional employment, my brother was determined to explore business opportunities. He engaged in small entrepreneurial ventures while studying, such as purchasing kites in bulk to sell through a friend's shop and running a small bookstore alongside his college lectures. Occasionally, I would accompany him to the shop. He even managed a small gaming zone that I often visited after school.

Despite facing strong disapproval from our parents, who urged him to seek employment instead of pursuing business, he remained steadfast in his aspirations. He eventually requested our father to assist him in securing an internship with a family friend involved in real estate.

Chapter 2: A Defining Moment

In case you're unfamiliar, real estate encompasses the buying, selling, and renting of properties such as homes and apartments. One day, while working in the office alone, my brother encountered a client interested in renting a home. He had been diligently maintaining a list of available properties, and after showing the client several options, he successfully arranged a rental agreement, earning a significant commission for his efforts.

That day was pivotal for my brother. He realized he could generate income without investing upfront in properties. Motivated by this success, he committed himself to learning the nuances of real estate consultancy.

After completing his degree, he expressed his desire to open his own office, a plan our father wholeheartedly supported. He established a small office and dedicated himself to it. However, he soon discovered that growth required substantial investment. My father voluntarily retired and entrusted my brother with his retirement funds, which he used to acquire properties.

The principle that "money attracts money" proved true as he began to earn impressive profits, reinvesting in various properties. I recall days when my school friends arrived in luxurious cars, and I often wondered if we could ever afford such luxuries. Today, by the grace of Allah, we can.

It's important to note that this journey was fraught with challenges. My brother endured significant losses, yet he never wavered in his resolve. He often reminds me that both profit and loss are integral to business. Even during months with no clients, his determination never faltered.

Chapter 3: Reflection and Gratitude

Whenever I reflect on this journey, I quietly express my gratitude to my brother for his courage in pursuing business, as well as for choosing this path over conventional employment. I must clarify that I hold no animosity towards jobs; I am employed myself. However, I find greater fulfillment in entrepreneurship. Initially, I only heard about the transformative power of business, but now I can attest to its reality.
